If you have been watching the Olympics you will have seen the heavy snowfall hit Italy last week. Loads of fresh snow fell all over the Italian Alps with Champoluc receiving over half a metre of snow. This new snow is not just limited to Italy; Austria, France and Switzerland also benefited, with Avoriaz and the resorts of the Portes du Soleil in France, receiving a metre of fresh snow in the last week. Saas Fee has had 40cm in the last 24 hours and more heavy snowfall is expected in Switzerland this week. So if you're looking for powder, Europe is definitely the place to be.

Ski News - Winter Olympics
Winter Olympics What a week for alpine skiing; after postponing the ladies Super G twice, due to heavy snowfall, it finally took place on Monday morning. Austrian Michaela Dorfmeister claimed the skiing double, winning a gold in both the Super G and Downhill. The women's downhill also proved thrilling viewing, with British Chemmy Alcott finishing 11th, her best ranking in all the Olympic events. The men's Giant Slalom was equally exciting, with Austrian Benjamin Raich winning his first ever Olympic gold and then promptly announcing his retirement. On the ice, British figure skaters, Sinead and John Kerr finished a respectable 14th overall in the ice dancing, whilst the men's British curling team are through to the semi-finals on Wednesday.
