Alpendorf is only 90 minutes from Salzburg and is part of Austria's Salzburger Sportwelt ski area, linked to the resort Wagrain by ski lift and the resorts of Flachau and Filzmoos by bus. The Salzburger Sportwelt ski area offers 282km of piste, with Flachau the largest individual resort at 111km and Alpendorf's local area offering 33km of doorstep skiing. There is almost 1,400m of vertical drop and a great selection of beginner and intermediate skiing, along with a small selection of advanced skiing.
Alpendorf is a small hamlet situated up the valley from the neighbouring St Johann in Pongau. The resort offers a typical Austrian après ski atmosphere in the bars at the bottom of the slopes. From Alpendorf you can ski to the nearby resort of Wagrain or take the bus over to the more extensive skiing in Flachau, all part of the Salzburg Sportwelt ski area.
