Ski Holidays in Mayrhofen, Austria
Set in the beautiful Ziller Valley, Mayrhofen has long earned its place as one of the world's top ski and snowboard resorts, set amid the vast Zillertal area. Our favouriter ski area in the Valley is Kaltenbach followed closely by the Ziller Arean in Zell am Ziller. Both are reached by a very short train ride from Mayrhofen train station and all the resorts mentioned are on the one lift pass for the Valley.

The ski area is large, varied and high. The terrain offers a good mix of cruisers and steeps and is well laid out for beginner skiers around the mid station of the Finkenberg. For advanced skiers there is the Harakiri piste, the steepest groomed slope in Austria, as well as some impressive off piste ski terrain. On the otherside of the valley is the Ahorn ski area which offer ski terrain best suited to beginners. There is now a new cable car to the Ahorn area and the fast gondola up to the Penken, the ski region is connected up to the Finkenberg, Rastkogel and Eggalm ski areas, belonging to the extensive 'Zillertal 3000'. The Mayrhofen ski area is impressive, one of the best in Austria and is backed up by the nearby Hintertux glacier which offers year round skiing and a snow guarantee for early or late ski holidays in Mayrhofen. Wintersports enthusiasts can enjoy an incredible 600 km and the nearby Hintertux glacier included on the whole area lift pass and connected with a free bus. For the more adventurous skier there are 22km of black runs including the steepest run in Austria, the infamous Hara Kiri with a 78% gradient.
