Undiscovered, top class resort - 31/05/2019
Overall

I worked at Big White for a whole winter. The terrain is very fun! Most of it is fairly intermediate but there are a lot of natural rollers, bumps and jumps that form and make it such a fun mountain to ski. There’s one steep section; The Cliff with double blacks and when the snow is right, this is great for some steep, challenging terrain. Some of the tree skiing is amazing when there is fresh snow, especially by Powder Chair and Gem Lake. Most of the runs are in the tree line so it’s never an issue in low light as the terrain is ‘protected’ by the trees. Off the slopes, it’s very chilled and there are some excellent restaurants, ranging from cheap and cheerful, to mid and high end. Prices are very reasonable and not inflated like in most European resorts. They really push their family friendly appeal and often run activities most afternoons/evenings for children. As there are very few direct flights to the nearest airport (Kelowna), it keeps the crowds away. You’ll rarely queue midweek. It only gets busy on weekends when the locals head up but is never really ‘busy’ if comparing to European standards. I've skied a lot of Europe and Big White is still my favourite place to ski!

Apres Ski: 5/5
