Hotel & Spa Aragon Hills, Formigal, Spain

I had the pleasure of staying in the Aragon Hills during December and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The facilities in the hotel are fantastic starting with the marble covered reception through to the stunning spa. The restaurant was superb and the a la carte was exceptional with great views across the village toward the mountain. The staff were very welcoming and the location was great, two minutes walk to the vibrant nightlife and a short hop on the shuttle down to the lift station. This is a great hotel whether staying with friends or family and I look forward to returning

We went to Formigal, Spain the 2nd week of March 2011 and it was a fabulous experience and we can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the Aragon Hills which is more luxurious than any hotel we've ever stayed at in Italy or France; on a par with the comfort and facilities in Sweden. The Spanish made us really welcome, the food was fine - even for strict vegetarians, prices very reasonable and the service was excellent. A little mini bus took you from directly outside the hotel straight to the slopes. A 5 minute journey which ran every 10 minutes.

The weather was sunny most of the week and the snow was fantastic. The resort is really well laid out with very few paths or flat spots so no 'pole'ing. Very few queues and not very crowded on the well-groomed pistes. The pistes are very clearly marked too....excellent. About 130kms of piste...plenty. Fantastic scenery with its own mini Matterhorn.

The lift passes were really cheap and the food and drink prices were about what you'd pay here so none of the rip-off mountain prices we've been accustomed to in France and Italy. Also, because the weather is generally sunny, there are no gondolas or stinky cable cars - so NO CARRYING SKIS! BIG plus for me.

Al, the Igluski/Aramon rep was really helpful, a nice guy, a good ski guide and knew his stuff. He worked directly for the resort so it was a VERY refreshing change from the rubbishy, incompetent Crystal reps we've suffered over the years.

The Spanish really want us there and have built a special close-by airport to attract the Brits. The flight only had about 30 people so check-in and flight felt like first class. Transfer was 90 minutes.

We could not fault it and can't wait to go back. Thank you Aramon and thank you Igluski. :-)
