Ski Holidays in Macugnaga, Italy

Macugnaga is a charming resort and a great choice for those wanting to learn in a quiet and scenic spot

At the foot of the magnificent Monte Rosa, the picturesque resort of Macugnaga is surrounded by stunning mountains. Both areas, Pecetto, the quieter end of the village and Macugnaga centre (also known as Staffa) each have their own small ski area and there is a local ski bus which runs during the day to take you the short journey from one to the other (at a small local charge).

Macugnaga, over the border from Saas-Fee, is quite Swiss in character. It's a friendly place ideally suited to beginners, with an excellent ski school. There are few queues, it's good value and wonderful for families. There is minimal nightlife and only a handful of restaurants, but all serve good food. For more advanced skiing, off-piste is the only substantial option but, with a guide, you can tour all the way over to Saas-Fee.

The après-ski here is quiet, friendly and informal. Macugnaga has a small selection of bars, try the Mignon bar or the Flizzi bar and head onto the Big Ben for a spot of late night revelling. The restaurants suit everybody’s taste.
