Ski Holidays in Prato Nevoso, Italy
Prato Nevoso is an ideal place to learn to ski or snowboard. Snowboarders are particularly well catered for in the Board Park which has a half pipe and is often illuminated in the evening too. In fact, Prato Nevoso hosted the Junior Snowboard World Championships in 2005. The two areas of Artesina and Prato Nevoso make up the Mondole Ski area with almost 100kms of piste with many gentle runs ideally suited to beginners and intermediates.
Skiing in Prato Nevoso
There's minimal walking, easy runs both at village level and at altitude, and a caring ski school. Progression is great which means beginners can be doing quite long blue runs before the end of the week. The two main runs back to the village are floodlit 3 times a week and night skiing is included on the pass. This is a big snowboarding area with a dedicated snowboard park which also is floodlit 3 times a week.
Prato Nevoso is notably friendly and local suppliers are always keen to give good service and promote their resort. Prato has something of a local community with school, church and shops. As in most purpose-built resorts, there's a long gallery of shops, bars and restaurants all conveniently located opposite the slopes.
Snow conditions in Prato Nevoso
Lying on the north-west facing slopes of the Maritime Alps the resort enjoys a good snow record and plenty of sunshine.

The nearest airport to Prato Nevoso is Turin Caselle (TRN) which is around 1 hour 50 minutes bus or car transfer. Other airports include Nice (NCE), Parma (PMF), Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Bergamo (BGY) which are all accessible but have slightly longer transfer times.
