Snow Conditions in Italy (23 November 2015)
It was a cold start to the week in Italy on Monday 23rd November, with the recent cold front forcing temperatures below freezing across most of our featured resorts.
Cervinia (20/145cm) saw the biggest gains over the weekend with around 35cm falling on the upper slopes. As a result, it was able to get four lifts running for the first time this season, increasing the amount of terrain on offer to riders significantly. Val Senales (5/85cm) also saw a 15cm snowfall which did much to improve snow depths in the area.
A flurry of resort openings look to be taking place this coming weekend, with Alagna, Kronplatz and La Thuile looking to get lifts turning this weekend. Temperatures should remain low throughout the week, which should provide resorts the perfect snowmaking conditions ahead of their proposed opening dates.
Looking to the week ahead and resort in and around the Aosta Valley and Monterosa ski area look likely to benefit from some decent snowfall during the middle of week, with the resorts of Courmayeur, Cervinia and La Thuile likely to see around 20cm. Elsewhere, sunny spells will be interspersed with flurries of light snow showers as we move through the week and into the weekend.
