Snow Conditions in Italy (30 April 2015)
For our final Italian winter report, it was a beautiful day with bright blue skies and light clouds spread across the sky. Good skiing is still available but only up high as one might expect. The glaciers of Passo Tonale (50/400cm) and Val Senales (15/320cm) still offer good base depths and better slopes at high altitudes.
Livingo (9/169cm) is one of our featured resorts still open for snow sports and there is also a good amount of skiing still available too. On Thursday 30th April most of their lifts were operating at higher altitude with 16 out of 31 running. There has also been light snow to report and this was seen earlier in the morning in Livingo with approximately 9cm falling on the higher slopes, which was followed later on by sunny weather. Most of this snow will soften quickly in the afternoon as the temperature begins to peak but the fresh snow was a welcomed treat and a good way to end our winter reporting for Italy.
The sunshine is expected to be replaced by rain this weekend and furthermore it could be heavy rain too, even at high altitude, so the slopes might not have long left.
After this weekend, only Cervinia is set to remain open – limited to weekends.
