Great property, in a great location, with great staff - 12/04/2011

Having been to Morzine for our last few holidays my group of ski buddies decided it was time to head back to the Three Valleys. We stayed in the Chalet Astemy, which is based up in Morel, and had an awesome holiday. The chalet staff were fantastic, with everyone in the chalet giving them full marks on their CSQs. The food was superb, the service was tremendous and the hosts were friendly and engaging, yet intrusive. Having stayed in luxury chalet for the past couple of seasons we weren't sure what to expect, but the guys exceeded our expectations and we plan to return next season. The location was superb, set back behind Chez Kikis the walk into town takes about 10 minutes after dinner and about 15 minutes on the back — beer and hills are not a great combination. For the skiing, the Morel chairlift is around 300m away, so less than a five minute walk. During the whole week we didn't encounter more than 10 people at the lift station and once you hit the Alitport lift you can access the whole of Meribel and Courchevel very quickly. The chalet itself was also great, the rooms were comfortable and very clean, with the balconies offering great valley views through the trees. The mezzanine in the lounge was where we chose to relax with afternoon tea, and the sauna was a helpful addition. All in all the Chalet Astemy is a great property, in a great location, with great staff. Perfect for a trip to Meribel, and we'll certainly be heading back again.

This is a great chalet although the living area is small for 14 people if all are adults, there is a children's playroom off the living room. Unfortunately this ruins the stunning view that the chalet could have had! Bad planning really! But it is a great chalet, with decent sized rooms and en suites. Ski locker has boot warmers which are nice but remember to switch it on! Our food was fantastic and more than enough - saved on expensive lunches on the piste as Meribel is not cheap. Great chalet, although its a pity about the lack of view.
