Chalet Mariefleur, Meribel

Mariefleur is a substantial detached wooden chalet nestling in a small private development at the entrance to Méribel. Its picture book exterior is complemented by the smartly stylish interiors, which are the loving work of the chalet's owner, a well-known French designer.

The chalet is rather imaginatively laid out with lots of intriguing corners and different levels (making it less suitable for young children) which invite you to explore and find your own space to unwind either around the main hearth or curled up on the mezzanine. The relaxation suite with hot tub and sauna will help soothe ski-weary muscles at the end of the day. For your comfort and convenience, ski hire and boot fitting are available in the chalet.

Meals - Chalet Mariefleur, Meribel

Good food is an essential ingredient of every chalet party. The welcoming glass of bubbly and appetising canapés on your first evening sets the tone for a week of tempting cuisine.

Your day starts with a choice of tea or coffee at your bedside (we can leave it outside the door if you prefer). This is followed by a hearty breakfast, including French bacon, tomatoes and a choice of eggs or, if you prefer, porridge; all served with fruit juice, cereals, yoghurt, freshly baked bread, croissants, jams, and a selection of teas and coffee. Once a week your chalet host offers an option of fresh pancakes.

While you are out skiing your host will have laid out afternoon tea for your return – diet-defying cakes, bread, jam, tea, coffee or hot chocolate. First one home puts the kettle on!

Dinner comprises a three-course meal followed by a cheese course, coffee and mints, and all complemented by a selection of extremely palatable French wines. The quality of our wine is of a much superior standard to that which you might have come to expect on a chalet holiday and we have a choice of house reds and whites to accompany your evening meal. In the unlikely event that our house wine proves not to be to your liking then additional choices, including champagne and port, are available from our cellar for a small supplement.

Chalet Hosts: As well as possessing a flair for entertaining and a genuine love of food, our chalet hosts are friendly, unflappable and exceptionally hard working. Having completed a rigorous pre-season training course, each host is encouraged to manage their chalet as if it were their own home. We find this engenders a commitment to your enjoyment and well-being which makes the atmosphere in our chalets quite different. Our chalet hosts have one day a week off. On this day breakfast will be laid out and fresh bread delivered to your chalet. Your host will be delighted to recommend and book a local restaurant for your evening meal.
