Snow falls in Austria and across the Alps

Those who have booked European ski holidays this winter will no doubt be rubbing their hands in anticipation, following the news that roughly two metres of snow has fallen in the Austrian mountains in as many weeks.

Verbier ski resort notes that Alp resorts have witnesses snow falls of up to 40 cm as high up the mountains as 2,000 metres, with those on ski holidays in Chamonix likely to witness fresh snow of 25 cm at town level.

According to Easier, the resort of Soelden is under a metre of snow while three new lifts are to operate in the Obergurgl-Hochgurgl region.

Another ski resort in Austria is Kitzbuhel - famed for the treacherous Hahnenkahm world cup downhill race.

Kitzbuhel had the best snow record in the Alps in 2003, according to SkiAustria.com those who enjoy a good apres ski nightlife would do well to book a ski holiday in Kitzbuhel according to its recommendations.
