Snow on slopes around the world

Date Posted: 31st Jan 2008
Category:  St Anton News
Snowfall around the globe is benefiting people on North America ski holidays, European ski holidays and even ski holidays in countries as far afield as Asia.

It has even been predicted that flurries of snow will hit regions across the UK tomorrow and this weekend.

Reuters recently reported that a student in China attempted to ski 200 kilometres after heavy snowfalls blocked the roads.

A Changjiang Daily report on sina.com.cn commented: "Who knew that the highways would have been closed by snow and that there would be no buses ... he had a fantastic idea."

The Ski Club of Great Britain reports that the Israel and Jordan have seen flurries while predictions for more snow in the Alps, the Rockies and the Pyrenees have been given for this coming weekend.

Additionally, the Globe and Mail has claimed that "massive" snowfall in Canada means "big business" for ski resorts in the country.
