Ski season 'may extend beyond Easter'

This year's European ski holiday season may well continue on past Easter, the normal cut-off point, it has been suggested.

According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, Easter is falling "about as early as it gets" and fresh snow is continuing to fall across the Alps, meaning that more skiing could be had for a longer period in this region.

"April can produce some of the best conditions of the winter with good snowfalls, long days, uncrowded slopes and reduced prices," the Ski Club notes.

And according to Martin Epp, a Swiss mountain guide, winter is moving further back in the calendar and April to May is a favourite time of his for ski holidays in Europe.

The Met Office has also predicted snow falls in France, Italy, Austria and Switzerland over the Easter period.
