Britons already thinking ahead to the next ski season in Europe have been urged to give some thought to ski holidays in Val Thorens
, if it is guaranteed snow they are after.
The ski resort is now guaranteeing powder from December until May as it claims it is "confident in the quality" of its snow cover.
Those familiar with ski holidays in Val Thorens
will be aware that 99 per cent of the village - which is the highest resort in Europe - is situated above an altitude of 2,000 metres.
"This is why Val Thorens has created its snow guarantee, unusual in the fact that ... a resort is capable of ensuring one year in advance that at least 70 per cent of its ski lifts will be open [for] over four months," the resort's website claims.
During the 2007-08 ski season, the old Cairn and Caron gondolas were replaced by two new automatic eight-seater gondolas.
Val Thorens reopens from November 22nd 2008 until May 3rd 2009 for winter skiing.
