British skiers Chemmy Alcott and Finlay Mickel have clinched the women's and men's downhill champions titles on the slopes of
Meribel.
The pair were competing in the British Land Ski Championship and claimed victory aided by improved conditions following light problems early on, reports the Daily Telegraph.
"I had a really good run today, tough conditions, fast, icy and bumpy, it was pretty much up there with one of the toughest downhills I have done this year," Alcott, 26, told the news source.
Today (April 1st) sees the National Champions and National Junior Champions Super Giant Slalom being held.
Visitors to Meribel will currently be able to enjoy the annual Altitude Festival, packed full of top entertainment provided by a host of comedians and music acts.
Skiing enthusiasts may also want to note in the diary that the 3 Valley X-Wing Rally takes place at the resort in mid-April.
