Val d'Isere pistes covered in snow

Date Posted: 15th Dec 2009
Category:  Val d'Isere News
Cold weather over the weekend resulted in more snow fall across a variety of ski resorts in the French Alps, Austria, Switzerland and Italy, new reports state.

Those planning to take ski holidays in popular ski resorts in France, such as Tignes and Val d'Isere will be glad to hear that they are now enjoying "good" snow cover, according to the Ski Club of Great Britain.

The ski resorts of Morzine and La Plagne, as well as Flaine, which received five centimetres of light snow on December 12th, all opened last weekend, creating more choice for people planning ski holidays.

Meanwhile, people in North America are also experiencing snowfall in some areas, with Vancouver forecasted to receive its first major snowfall of the season.

Environment Canada, the national weather centre, issued a snowfall warning for Metro Vancouver, predicting snow and freezing rain.

The country is preparing to host the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, which the Canadian Tourism Commission recently said will help promote "undiscovered" parts of Canada.
