Snow fans looking for some variation from their ski holiday have been pointed in the direction of
Cervinia, which offers a choice between different locations.
Writing for the Independent, James Hanning highlights that visitors get "two countries for the price of one" as only a couple of ski lifts separate Italy and Switzerland.
"Long fast runs" are the order of the day in Cervinia, according to Mr Hanning, while there should be little problem with powdery snow because of the destination's height above sea level.
Meanwhile, a trip to the Swiss slopes of Mont Blanc offers more in the way of picturesque views, although the reviewer notes that "if the weather is good, there is no end of thrilling runs to choose from".
Furthermore, there is no shortage of restaurants serving good food and drink in either location, although individuals are warned to keep an eye on the time to avoid missing the last lift to their accommodation.
Cervinia also shares a ski area with
Zermatt, with one run continuing for 22 kilometres.
