Ski fans considering a break to
Chamonix have been told that both lifts and pistes are open in all areas of the valley.
Writing for Chamonet.com, Caroline Face states that the slopes can now be enjoyed in locations including Brevent, Balme and Les Houches, while Flegere and Grands Montets have also opened.
However, guests are encouraged to wrap up warm, particularly when taking the chair or bubble lifts to the higher regions of the destination.
Ms Face said: "Above all, our advice is to wrap up warm as the temperatures have plummeted.
"Regularly hitting between -10C and -15C in Chamonix town centre, the temperatures at 2,000 metres have been really cold, especially when you add in the wind chill factor."
Meanwhile, a recent trip to the slopes in Brevent brought even colder temperatures of -25C, placing more of an importance on people putting a warm ski jacket and a woolly hat in their suitcases.
Chamonix is in the Rhode-Alpes region of France and was the venue that hosted the 1924 Winter Olympics, where 258 athletes from 16 countries participated in 19 events across nine sports.
