It's Going To Dump Snow This Week

Date Posted: 29th Jan 2013
Category:  Snow News

It may feel a little premature to get excited, but there is 30cm forecast to fall in one day this week! The next three days will see a sprinkling of snow before a huge dump on Friday that will be followed by heavy snowfall on Saturday.

Basically, pack your transceiver, rucksack, probe and shovel, book a guide or off piste lesson and hire the fattest skis or snowboard you dare. This weekend is going to be epic. And what's even better is all the forecast data is based on the resorts mid-station, imagine what it's going to be like at the top of the Grande Motte, Pic Blanc, Cime de Caron or Mount Fort!

Pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow, pow...

France is having the season of seasons and Alpe d'Huez is boasting the best snow there I can remember. Again trouncing Val d'Isere's forecast by 10cm and having half the number of people on the slopes, it's definitely the place to be this weekend!

  • Avoriaz 42cm
  • Chamonix 57cm
  • Courchevel 43cm
  • Flaine 54cm

Switzerland is also boasting some belting conditions toward the end of the week with over half a metre forecast in the Jungfrau and similar snowfall around Valais too.

  • Davos 35cm
  • Flims Laax 50cm
  • Klosters 35cm
  • Les Diablerets cm
  • Saas Fee 35cm

  • Zermatt 35cm

Austria is looking at one of its best weeks for snow all season. The main dump will be on Saturday, with resorts expecting up to 20cm of snow, but there is snowfall expected throughout the week.

  • Ischgl 46cm
  • Kitzbuhel 40cm
  • Lech 57cm
  • Mayrhofen 36cm
  • Obergurgl 34
  • Saalbach 39cm
  • Solden 37cm
  • Soll 41cm
  • St. Anton 51cm

Italy is having a mixed bag this week. The closer to the Swiss and French Alps, the better, with Cervinia expecting over 20cm and La Thuile boasting nearly 50cm.

  • Arabba 13cm
  • Cervinia 36cm
  • Cortina 14cm
  • Courmayeur 51cm
  • La Thuile 47cm
  • Livigno 18cm
  • Pila 32cm

The snowman is getting pretty excited, even if he does have to wait until March to hit the slopes! If you're a powder-hound and you haven't booked a trip for this season, what's stopping you, the conditions are epic.
