Time For Another Snow Storm

Date Posted: 11th Mar 2013
Category:  Snow News

As blustering snow hits the UK, a full-on snow storm is set to batter the Alps with the finest March powder. Austria, Switzerland and Italy are all boasting forecasts of around half a metre in some of their top resorts, while France should see a good 20cm of snowfall by Friday.

Austria is set for the best of the powder this week, with four days of heavy snow followed by a potentially sunny Friday and weekend. Ischgl is forecast a whopping 61cm, so powder skis and partying hard will very much be on the agenda.

  • Alpbach 29cm
  • Ischgl 61cm
  • Kitzbuhel 35cm
  • Lech 42cm
  • Mayrhofen 30cm
  • Obergurgl 33cm
  • Serfaus 70cm
  • Solden 38cm
  • St. Anton 51cm
  • Zell am See 32cm

Switzerland is also expecting decent dump of snow over the next four days. Many of the country's top resorts will be hoping for the best part of half a metre of fresh pow thanks to the 41cm forecast in Saas Fee and Klosters.

  • Crans Montana 22cm
  • Davos 38cm
  • Flims Laax 26cm
  • Klosters 41cm
  • Nendaz 22cm
  • Saas Fee 41cm
  • St. Moritz 40cm
  • Verbier 24cm
  • Wengen 33cm
  • Zermatt 39cm

Italy is having a mixed week. Livigno is expecting an exceptional amount of snow with 48cm on the forecast, while the Milky Way is set for a more modest 10cm dusting.

  • Arabba 26cm
  • Cervinia 37cm
  • Champoluc 36cm
  • Cortina 39cm
  • La Thuile 22cm
  • Livigno 48cm
  • Passo Tonale 28cm
  • Sauze d'Oulx 10cm
  • Selva 17cm
  • Sestriere 11cm

France, for a change, is getting the least snow for the main skiing destinations in Europe. Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux ALpes are forecast around 7cm, while La Rosiere and Val d'Isere are expecting the best snow with around 20cm on the radar.

  • Alpe d'Huez 7cm
  • Chamonix 10cm
  • Courchevel 13cm
  • La Plagne 12cm
  • La Rosiere 20cm
  • Les Arcs 16cm
  • Meribel 11cm
  • Tignes 18cm
  • Val d'Isere 19cm
  • Val Thorens 9cm

It looks like we are having a week off from the sunshine, but with all this fresh snow on the horizon and the slopes already in great shape, I can't see too many people complaining.
