Easter Bunny To Deliver Snow

Date Posted: 28th Mar 2013
Category:  Snow News

This weekend is going to be one of the snowiest of the season, just in time for the final holiday season — the Easter holidays. The Easter Bunny appears to have picked up some rather large deposits of snow instead of chocolate eggs, which means powder galore over the next three days.

The five day forecast is showing up to half a metre of fresh snow, but the next three days are when most of it is due to fall. I can't remember a season like this ever taking place before, the snow just gets better and better and we are in April next week.

France is forecast the most snow, but you'll need to put away your Easter bonnet and put on your woolly hat, helmet, goggles and scarf if you are skiing this weekend. Les Deux Alpes is expecting a huge 54m of fresh snow, while the always popular Tarentaise Valley should expect around 30cm.

  • Alpe d'Huez 47cm
  • Avoriaz 26cm
  • Courchevel 29cm
  • La Plagne 30cm
  • Les Arcs 31cm
  • Les Deux Alpes 54cm
  • Meribel 27cm
  • Tignes 31cm
  • Val d'Isere 32cm
  • Val Thorens 32cm

Austria is having one of its best weeks of the season with 20-30cm of fresh snow falling pretty much everywhere. You'll most definitely be looking forward to a hot cross bun after riding pow all day long!

  • Alpbach 17cm
  • Ischgl 28cm
  • Lech 25cm
  • Kuhtai 29cm
  • Obergurgl 29cm
  • Saalbach 21cm
  • Serfaus 37cm
  • Solden 33cm
  • St. Anton 27cm
  • Zell am See 19cm

Switzerland is swapping chocolate box charm and chocolate eggs for snowballs and a thick coating of fresh, white powder. The mountains, trees, buildings and ski instructors will be under several centimetres of snow all through the bank holiday weekend. So don't forget your thermals!

  • Champex 31cm
  • Flims Laax 19cm
  • Klosters 15cm
  • Nendaz 28cm
  • Murren 30cm
  • Saas Fee 29cm
  • St. Moritz 24cm
  • Verbier 30cm
  • Wengen 27cm
  • Zermatt 29cm

Italy is also set for a cracking few days of snow, as the Vatican celebrates Easter, the Dolomites and Milky Way will be raising a glass to Ullr and his 30cm of fresh pow. Snow, snow and more snow — I'm not sure there's anything else to say.

  • Arabba 16cm
  • Bardonecchia 34cm
  • Cervinia 28cm
  • Claviere 28cm
  • Courmayeur 31cm
  • La Thuile 33cm
  • Livigno 28cm
  • Passo Tonale 28cm
  • Selva 13cm
  • Sestriere 27cm

It's the last snow round-up from this snowman, as I'll be melting away over the weekend, but fear not, another snowy reporter will be here to keep you informed. It's been the snowiest year I've ever seen and there still loads of it left, if you haven't hit the slopes yet, there are still a few more weeks to enjoy the most incredible winter you might ever see.
