April Snow Showers Start a Powder Filled Week

Date Posted: 5th Apr 2013
Category:  Iglu Ski

As the Snowman is getting his skis ready for a trip to the Trois Vallées tomorrow, reports from the front indicate a renewed snow bombardment has commenced. Resorts in Austria and Switzerland being particularly hard hit include Solden, with 30cm coming in the next five days, St Moritz and Zermatt. The snowiest place in Europe next week, and not for the first time, is the high Italian hideaway of Livignio with a demi metric 43cm on the way.

France has a notably neige filled weekend ahead, with large amounts falling on Saturday and Sunday, before a return to sunnier Spring conditions on Tuesday. The largest amount of powder in France next week is in two resorts that are hugely popular with our customers, Tignes and Val d'Isere.

  • Alpe d'Huez 9cm
  • Courchevel 16cm
  • Chamonix 16cm
  • La Plagne 21cm
  • Les Arcs 22cm
  • Les Deux Alpes 10cm
  • Méribel 14cm
  • Tignes 31cm
  • Val D'Isere 32cm
  • Val Thorens 12cm

Italy has a taste for the snowy high life, with Livignio coming in as the snowiest ski destination in Europe. The Italian resort is to be saturated over the next five days with 43cm on the way. The resort offers great value, considering its height and excellent snow record. Cervinia shares Zermatt's gargantuan ski area and happy snow forecast, with an excellent 36cm ready to fall.

  • Arabba 24cm
  • Cervinia 36cm
  • Livigno 43cm
  • Sauze d'Oulx 13cm
  • Selva 16cm

Switzerland has consistently confident snowfall forecast for next week. In a form of strange Swiss snow snobbery, the more exclusive resorts of Zermatt and St Moritz have most excellent powder due in coming days. Family friendly Saas Fee is the best of cloud-cuckoo-clock-land with 37cm popping out next week.

  • Andermatt 26cm
  • Davos 23cm
  • Crans Montana 16
  • Klosters 21cm
  • Saas Fee 37cm
  • Samnaun 27cm
  • St Moritz 35cm
  • Verbier 20cm
  • Wengen 19cm
  • Zermatt 35cm

Austria. Ischgl good here, with a Zell of a lot of snow on the way. If you are yet to be Solden the idea of skiing in Austria, take a look at these epic snow forecasts!

  • Alpbach 11cm
  • Ischgl 27cm
  • Lech 18cm
  • Mayrhofen 18cm
  • Obergurgl 27cm
  • Saalbach 14cm
  • St Anton 23cm
  • Solden 30cm
  • Zell Am See/Kaprun 13cm
  • Söll 9cm

An absurd quantity due for what is offically Spring, helped along by freezing temperatures across Europe. With longer days and less arctic conditions, late season skiing gives you great value, snow and sun.
