It's the middle of the Jan and apparently the most depressing day of the year. Well to cheer you up I bring news of yet again more snow in the Alps. Whether you are skiing next week, next month or toward the end of the season the fairly constant snow that has come down this winter bodes well for all of us.
The United States biggest skiing state, Colorado, is looking forward to the most snow this week. Steamboat and Aspen have been forecast over 30cm each and Beaver Creek, Crested Butte and Vail are all expecting in excess of 20cm of fresh pow.
Back in Europe, Austria is taking the plaudits this week with a snow storm set to hit most resorts over the next few days. The snowfall may not be as full on as earlier in the season but 20cm of our favourite white stuff is not to be sniffed at. Zell am See, St. Johann and Maria Alm are leading the snowfall with around 20cm expected and the likes of Mayrhofen, Saalbach and Kitzbuhel are not far behind with 15cm-20cm forecast in those resorts. To be honest it would be hard to find a top Austrian resort that won't be receiving double figures snowfall by the weekend.
Italy is also benefitting from a decent amount of snow this week with the resorts of Arabba, Canazei and Santa Cristina all forecast around 15cm. The Swiss resorts of Flims Laax, Davos and Klosters are also expecting a light dusting this week, rounding up the conditions in Europe.
