This weekend is once again looking pretty good for skiing, from the dusting across the Alps to the near 2m of snowfall expected in Whistle,r the mid March slopes should be in great condition.
Italy and Spain are enjoying some great snowfall this weekend, and the extra half hour on the coach will be worth it. Gressoney is boasting 27cm with Cervinia topping up with 19cm. The Spanish resort of Formigal is growing in popularity year on year and with 25cm of fresh snow to add to great value and Spanish lifestyle in resort — think post ski siesta followed by partying until 4am and still making 9am lifts.
Switzerland in continuing to grab some snow from their neighbouring countries, with Zermatt topping up its high altitude, perfectly shaped slopes with 25cm and Saas Fee adding to its chocolate box charm and fantastic glacier skiing with 24cm of Italy's finest pow.
France is expecting a decent dusting over the weekend too, from the southern based resorts of Risoul, Vars and Claviere's 14cm to the Tarantaise's Val d'Isere and Val Thorens 9cm or so.
As mentioned Canada is again boasting beyond amazing conditions, Whistler's 179cm is unreal, Kicking Horse and Kimberley are both forecast around the 30cm mark, Fernie and Big White can boast 15cm of British Columbia's finest powder.
The U.S.A. is matching Europe for snow at the moment and Lake Tahoe in California is as usual gearing up for some great spring skiing. Squaw Valley, home to the legendary Jeremy Jones, is expecting 25cm of snow this weekend with the neighbouring resorts of Northstar and Heavenly adding around 20cm of Cali pow to their slopes.
All in all March is again looking like the best time to go skiing; great snow, bluebird skies and no school holidays. What else do you need.
