Jacobellis jubilant in snowboard championship
American snowboarder Lindsey Jacobellis has retained her FIS (Federation Internationale de Ski) World Championship Snowboard Cross title, after emerging victorious in Arosa, Switzerland.
Having reigned supreme in 2005, she proved too strong for runner-up Sandra Frei, from Switzerland, and the 16-year-old Norwegian, Helene Olafsen.
Meanwhile, in the men's section, Frenchman Xavier Delerue repeated his success of 2003 by dethroning reigning champion Seth Wescott from the USA.
People on their
ski holiday in Arosa were among the 4,000 spectators who turned out for another event, the popular Parallel Giant Slalom.
Ekatarina Tudigescheva won the ladies' competition, with local favourite Fraenzi Kohli coming third, while for the men, Rok Flander took the title, with another Swiss, Heinz Inniger, also ending in the bronze position.
The ability and agility of competitors in the FIS Snowboard World Championships never ceases to impress and has offered those on
ski holiday in Arosa the perfect opportunity to pick up some pointers to practise on the piste.
