Swedish skier tackles 'world's highest slopes'
Swedish extreme skier Fredrik Ericsson is attempting to tackle the world's three highest mountains.

Over the next three years he will attempt to ski Mount Everest, K2 and Kangchenjunga, in the hope of becoming the first person ever to do so.

The first part of Fredrik's challenge starts this week when he travels to the Himalayas to begin his ascent to the summit of Kangchenjunga.

He pointed out that as well as becoming the first Swede to ski the mountain, he will also be the first to climb it.

"We will carry all our equipment; we have randonneboots on our feet and will not use supplemental oxygen. Therefore it's harder for us to climb the mountain than for most of the other climbers," he added.

A professional skier, Fredrick spends his winters travelling around European ski resorts such as Chamonix in the French Alps.
