Peak 2 Peak gondola prepares to launch
Whistler's hotly anticipated Peak 2 Peak gondola is set to launch tomorrow (December 12th).
Final preparations are currently being made and the launch will be captured in a live webcast.
The opening ceremony will commence at 10:30am, with a number of officials giving speeches on both mountains.
At 11am the first lift will carry a number of auction and competition winners across the divide, before the afternoon's celebrations commence.
Several of children's events have been scheduled, along with a live art showcase, a fireworks display and a performance by well-known entertainer Norman Foot.
Free commemorative posters will also be available and the Roundhouse Lodge will host an 'open house' event, with visitors given the opportunity to meet the engineers and planners behind the gondola.
Whistler Blackcomb is the official venue for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic winter games.
