Tignes a worthy cheap skiing alternative

Tignes a worthy cheap skiing alternative Fans looking to cut costs and head on a cheaper skiing holiday away from the bigger, potentially busier locations have been told that Tignes could prove a suitable destination.

The French commune in the Rhone-Alpes region is a sister resort to the larger Val D'Isere, but according to OnTheSnow.com is a much cheaper alternative.

Meanwhile, the website notes that visitors will not suffer from a noticeable lack of skiing opportunities, with Tignes having a "wealth of ski slopes and one of Europe's largest snowparks".

According to PlanetSKI, Tignes and Val D'Isere have also made intelligent moves to encourage more people to the pistes with some appealing deals over the winter months.

These include paying for a ski pass for one child and getting another free, while developing buy one and get another half price on lift passes for adults.

An industry insider told the publication: "It was a very clever move by the lift companies and they have certainly taken business form other resorts as the sales figures reacted immediately as the offers reached the public."
