Miller to relax for rest of ski season

Miller to relax for rest of ski season
Bode Miller has decided to miss the World Cup finale in Germany and take the remainder of the season off to recuperate from an ankle injury sustained prior to the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

The unpredictable American picked up three medals on the slopes at Whistler, including a gold in the super-combined, despite still being troubled by a sore ankle.

Miller picked up this injury when playing volleyball with US team-mates at Val D'Isere in December.

However, he has not competed since Vancouver and is out of the running to gain any World Cup titles, which has led to him deciding to take some time off the slopes earlier than expected.

Miller said: "My goal at the beginning of the season was to get ready for the Olympics and to win races in February. I just focused on that and I did that.

"I feel like I accomplished everything I wanted to this season so it's nice to just be able to relax."

The 32-year-old has now taken his medal haul in Winter Olympic events to five, which is more than any other US skier.
