The Opening Weekend's Snow Report

The Opening Weekend's Snow Report

The ski season will be in full swing this weekend with most major and high altitude resorts already open or opening their lifts over the weekend. After a week of heavy snowfall leaving the Alps under a blanket of white stuff the Val d'Isere leg of the World Cup is in doubt, there's too much snow according to the course organisers — really, you can have too much snow?

This weekend will see plenty more powder, not massive amounts like earlier in the week, but still some pretty impressive figures for December. Though there is snow falling across the world, Europe — France especially — is boasting the best overall conditions. The weekend will see plenty more show, a little bit of sunshine and super cold temperatures.

This winter really is looking like the most consistent and impressive start to a season for years. The snow has come early and in considerable amounts. So, bring on those last minute ski deals.

France, as mentioned is getting the most snow over the weekend — with Alaska the only exception, but it's Alaska after all — making for a cracking start to the season. With more Brits skiing in France then anywhere else, this will be music to most of your ears.
