BA to Launch iPhone Check-In

BA to Launch iPhone Check-In

BA are to launch an iPhone app which will allow passengers to both check-in and use their phone as their boarding pass.

The new app will use a barcode on the users' phone, which is scanned at the gates in the same way as paper tickets, in the same way as similar systems used by Swiss and Air France. BA have announced the app will be further developed to contain flight information, check-in times and eventually boarding gates and boarding times.

The iPhone boarding pass will be available on flights from Heathrow to Edinburgh from Monday, with all domestic routes covered by the end of the month. Short haul flights are expected to be ready within six months and long haul is expected to be up and running by the middle of next year.
