Big Mountain Pro in Chamonix this February

Big Mountain Pro in Chamonix this February Some of the best skiers and snowboarders from across the globe will head to Chamonix this winter for what should be a thrilling eight-day event.

The Swatch O'Neill Big Mountain Pro 2008 is described as the "ultimate freeride contest" and challenges 24 entrants to find the optimum conditions in the European Alps, beginning in the French resort.

The crown will eventually go to the skier or snowboarder who displays the best freeriding skills. Freeriding is a term generally applied to a challenge with no set goals or rules and no specified course.

For those off to enjoy the high-octane thrills from 24 February to 2 March, ski holidays in Chamonix may be ideal for people of all ages and abilities.

Spanning three areas - the Grand Montets, Balme and Brevent/Flegere - the resort is open from December until May and offers breathtaking views and fine culture.
