The winter holiday season is already starting to descend on Canada as resorts begin preparations for the key holiday months.
Britons hoping to enjoy
family ski holidays will be pleased to learn that a number of new plans and initiatives for the 2008/2009 skiing season have been outlined by the Canadian Tourism Commission, including increased flights to the major winter resorts as well as new routes and facilities at key ski centres.
Several tour operators are planning to increase the number of flights on offer from Gatwick to Vancouver and Calgary to take advantage of growing passenger numbers heading out to the country.
Meanwhile, Revelstoke Mountain Resort has undergone significant investment to develop in to one of Canada's most well-equipped ski resorts. This season will see an increased lift-serviced vertical descent - making it the longest in North America at 5,620 feet.
Work is also continuing on the village's new high-speed chair lift.
It is hoped that such key developments in the Canadian winter holiday infrastructure will lead to a successful period for skiing resorts across the country this season.
