Over the last week or so a few holidays makers, seasonaires and resort locals were beginning to question whether the season could live up to its early winter expectations following a warmer sunnier few days in the Alps. From October until mid-Jan the snow had fallen gradually and regularly and as always a week without our favourite white stuff caused a little unneeded concern.
For those who lost faith, and we didn't, they can breath a sigh of relief and the snow is coming back to Europe with Italy enjoying the main storms and France also benefitting from a top up throughout the major resorts.

As mentioned Italy leads the way this week with Arabba, Canazei and Selva all looking forward to around 15cm, and most other resorts in the Dolomites gaining upwards of 10cm. Alpe d'Huez, Avoriaz and Meribel can all expect around 10cm of snow with most other resorts getting a welcome dusting. Soll, St. Johann am Tirol and Ellmau are also expecting snow in between the 5-10cm mark.
It may not be powder skiing conditions but the expected snow will help keep our pistes perfectly groomed, and the ski in chalets and restaurants accessible. With the temperatures dropping a little there's good chance more snow will follow and the fantastic snow base will continue to grow.
