Eurostar have today announced plans for a £700 million capital investment. The networks investment will include a complete overhaul of all existing trains as well as purchasing 10 new high-speed trains.
The ten new trains will all be able to operate on the European high speed rail network providing direct sevice between london and a range of destinations throughout Europe. The 320kph trains will also cut current train times to under two hours to Paris, under four hours to Amsterdam and under five hours to Geneva, while carrying up to 900 passengers.
With this is mind Eurostar could potentially be offering skiers an alternative way of travelling to Geneva and the Swiss and French resort of the Haute-Savoie along with the current service to Bourg St. Maurice which services Tarantaise resorts such as Meribel and Les Arcs.
The new trains will offer a contemporary and stylish environment and will include Wi-Fi and info-tainment[sic] on any train in Europe, offering the perfect place to work or relax while travelling. Whatever infotainment is, we have no idea.
