It's good news for
North America ski holidays, as the continent's first ski resort has opened for the season.
Colorado-based ski resort Arapahoe Basin opened for the 2007-08 ski season yesterday - beating other North American ski resorts for the second year running.
However, opening on October 10th is a personal best for the Colorado ski resort in terms of the last half decade, as it is the resort's earliest in 61 years.
"The race to be the first ski area open was tight again this year," Rob Perlman, President and CEO of the Colorado Ski Country USA trade group, told the Ski Club of Great Britain.
He added that it was a "tremendous start to what's shaping up to be another great ski and snowboard season in Colorado".
Such sentiment will no doubt please fans of
ski holidays in Breckenrige and other Colorado ski resorts.
Meanwhile, those who favour
ski holidays in Whistler will be buoyed by the news that a selection of professional skiers recently tried out the resort's upper slopes and reported that it was hopefully the start of an "epic ski season", Skipress reveals.
