Freezing Easter Creates Dream Ski Conditions

The Spring snowman reports that the Espace Killy in France is the place to be, with over 20cm of heavy snowfall due in the next five days. But the king of ski resorts, Zermatt, is forecast the highest snowfall Europe next week with an astonishing 29cm on the way.

Overall in Switzerland and Austria, the outlook is varied, with high resorts like Ischgl, Verbier and Saas Fee all doing well with plenty of snow on the way.

France has great local variation in snow forecasts, with the Southern Alpes getting less than the Tarentaise Valley. Nonetheless, skiers heading out to both Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes should be looking forward to the best snowbase in years, with several metres falling in March alone.

  • Alpe d'Huez 4cm
  • Courchevel 5cm
  • La Plagne 10cm
  • Les Arcs 14cm
  • Les Deux Alpes 5cm
  • Meribel 4cm
  • Morzine 1cm
  • Tignes 19cm
  • Val D'Isere 21cm
  • Val Thorens 7cm

Italy has consistent snowfall for the next week, with Cervinia predicted to be joining neighbouring Zermatt as the snowiest place in Europe

  • Arabba 11cm
  • Cervinia 27cm
  • Livigno 6cm
  • Sauze d'Oulx 8cm
  • Selva 13cm

Switzerland is maintaining pristine skiing conditions for the time being, with all the main resorts forecast snow for the coming days. Saas Fee and Zermatt are peaks ahead with 24cm and 29cm due over the next five days respectively.

  • Andermatt 6cm
  • Davos 6cm
  • Klosters 5cm
  • Saas Fee 24cm
  • St Moritz 6cm
  • Verbier 14cm
  • Wengen 1cm
  • Zermatt 29cm

Austria has the ultimate spring ski conditions ahead, with light snow and bluebird days to bring a fitting end to an excellent season. Grab a late deal and get out there!

  • Ischgl 10m
  • Kitzbühel 3cm
  • Lech 4cm
  • Mayrhofen 4cm
  • Obergurgl 6cm
  • Saalbach 4cm
  • St Anton 6cm
  • Solden 8cm
  • Zell Am See/Kaprun 3cm
  • Söll 8cm

So to conclude our snowverview, there is still tons of powder descending on the highest resorts of Tignes, Val d'Isere and Zermatt over the next week, while the cold weather will help hold the snow in all resorts as the snowman enjoys his best start to April in years.
