Europe's ski resorts are set to get a heavy dusting of snow this week, with holidaymakers anticipating improved conditions on the slopes.
Popular resorts including
Alpe d'Huez,
La Plagne,
Les Arcs and
Meribel are preparing for half a metre of snowfall, the Telegraph reports.
Many other European resorts are also expecting snowfall of between 25 and 50 centimetres.
"This new snow has come at the perfect time. It's been cold and sunny over the past few weeks, which was starting to affect conditions on south-facing slopes," a spokesman for the Ski Club of Great Britain told the newspaper.
Meanwhile, mountain guide Jonny Baird said the powder was "thigh-high" in some places and claimed that conditions in Courmayeur were some of the best he had ever seen.
Speaking earlier this month, the Ski Club of Britain said it expected European resorts to remain busy this year, with holidaymakers attracted by the bargain deals and ease of access.
