How to be a ski instructor

Britons not content with taking group ski holidays could consider honing their skills and training to be a ski instructor.

The Ski Club of Great Britain notes that the demand for ski instructors grows with the increasing number of holidaymakers flocking to the slopes annually.

However, it also notes that it is no longer permissible to simply be a good skier or snowboarder, as people on European ski holidays want trained instructors.

A good place to earn your wings - or poles - as a ski instructor is New Zealand, it is claimed.

"As the seasons run opposite here, people can train in the Southern Hemisphere and then go straight to work in the Northern Hemisphere," Colin Tanner, co-founder of The Instructor Training Co in New Zealand told the Ski Club.

He added that snowsports schools from the US and Canada often recruit from New Zealand ready for the winter season.

And if you just want to stick to a ski holiday in Breckenridge, the Colorado resort opens again this November.
