Lindsey Vonn is in danger of missing out on an expected two gold medals at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver after picking up a shin injury in training.
The American has been in devastating form in the downhill and super G events during the current World Cup season, winning eight out of 11 races.
But her chances of continuing this dominance at
Whistler are in jeopardy after picking up the injury during recent slalom training in Austria.
Vonn intends to race in all of her disciplines in Canada, but is working on a couple of contingency plans to perform as strongly as she can.
She said: "Essentially the first training run that I had, I crashed on the slalom and I hurt my shin. I couldn't walk the first day. I thought that a few days before the Olympics everything is coming crashing down.
"For sure I will be racing. I'm going to push through it and I'm just going to do the best that I can. I can guarantee you that I'm going to do everything I can to be as ready as I can with this injury and still try to ski well."
Vonn is still waiting for her first Winter Olympics medals after also getting injured during training four years ago.
A bruised hip hampered her performance in Turin and she could only finish eighth in the women's downhill.
