New Zealand to stage FIS World Cup

New Zealand to stage FIS World Cup New Zealand has pipped numerous other countries to the post by landing one of the most prestigious stages of the LG FIS Snowboard World Cup.

The country will be opening the prestigious tour between September 6th and 7th, before the competitors head off to the next destination on the 15-nation tour.

Cardrona will be the setting for the half pipe event, which is expected to attract around 100 snowboarders, according to the Ski Club of Great Britain.

Just three days before the competition begins, the Lake Wanaka resort will also host a FIS Continental Cup slopestyle event.

According to Snow.co.nz, current half pipe and big air world champion Mathieu Crepel will be among the competitors at the half pipe event.

As well as Cardrona, skiers and snowboarders looking to take family ski holidays in New Zealand might like to consider resorts such as Coronet Peak, Whakapapa, Treble Cone and Round Hill.
