St Anton gets cableway innovation ski holiday in St Anton this ski season, you will be greeted by the sight of a quite spectacular new cableway innovation.

Based on a Ferris wheel, the new gondola cableway system is a world first, with 28 floor levels gondolas allowing skiers access. The gondolas are then lifted back up onto the cable to be taken up the mountain.

The Galzigbahn, as the cable way is known, has had its carrying capacity increased by three times, meaning you spend less time waiting to get up to the mountain and more time on the slopes during ski holidays in St Anton.

Not only is the invention itself impressive, the building that houses the Ferris wheel system is also something special.

The glass building has been designed by Tyrolean architect Georg Driendl and looks spectacular sitting at the base of St Anton's fabulous slopes.

St Anton hosts thrilling spring events ski holidays in St Anton this spring will be welcomed by a series of top-class events.

First up is one for the women with the ladies week special promotion, which is taking place in the Austrian resort from April 7th until the 14th.

Up next is the spring festival, which enables visitors taking ski holidays in St Anton to watch the professionals at work on the slopes.

The region plays host to a series of demonstration events where crowds can gaze in wonder at the skills and tricks on display from top boarders and synchronised skiing teams.

Later in April, adrenaline junkies will be able to get their fix through the White Thrill race, which allows snowboarders and skiers to compete against one another in the tough obstacle contest.

It has even been predicted that flurries of snow will hit regions across the UK tomorrow and this weekend.

Reuters recently reported that a student in China attempted to ski 200 kilometres after heavy snowfalls blocked the roads.

A Changjiang Daily report on sina.com.cn commented: "Who knew that the highways would have been closed by snow and that there would be no buses ... he had a fantastic idea."

The Ski Club of Great Britain reports that the Israel and Jordan have seen flurries while predictions for more snow in the Alps, the Rockies and the Pyrenees have been given for this coming weekend.

Additionally, the Globe and Mail has claimed that "massive" snowfall in Canada means "big business" for ski resorts in the country.

St Anton gives skiers the opportunity to enjoy a varied terrain St Anton due to the location's varied terrain, it has been suggested.

The Daily Telegraph highlights that a number of free ski buses run from the Austrian destination, allowing ski fans to hit the slopes in nearby Stuben, Zurs and Lech.

Meanwhile, St Anton benefits from large amounts of heavy snowfall, alongside improvements being carried out to the lift systems to mean more time is spent skiing rather than waiting around and queuing up.

As well as the host of skiing options, the publication notes that the area is "full of character", particularly through a stretch of traditional-style buildings present on a traffic-less main street.

Additionally, conditions are known to still be good at the end of the ski season in April with vast amounts of fresh powder on display.

St Anton is most typically known as being the host of the 2001 Alpine World Ski Championships, which was the 36th instalment of the competition.
