Breckenridge features in list of top ski resorts Breckenridge ski holidays will be pleased to note that the resort has been placed in the top 10 out of 50 best ski resorts.

The Canadian Press reports that according to Ski Magazine's annual "Top Resort Guide", Breckenridge was one of a number of North America ski holiday resorts in the top ten.

Ski holidays in Whistler also looked to be popular, with the resort being placed at number three.

Ski Magazine described Vail as "more a snow empire than a resort" adding that "boredom is never an issue and finding the perfect run is just a matter of time".

First US ski resort opens North America ski holidays, as the continent's first ski resort has opened for the season.

Colorado-based ski resort Arapahoe Basin opened for the 2007-08 ski season yesterday - beating other North American ski resorts for the second year running.

However, opening on October 10th is a personal best for the Colorado ski resort in terms of the last half decade, as it is the resort's earliest in 61 years.

"The race to be the first ski area open was tight again this year," Rob Perlman, President and CEO of the Colorado Ski Country USA trade group, told the Ski Club of Great Britain.

He added that it was a "tremendous start to what's shaping up to be another great ski and snowboard season in Colorado".

Such sentiment will no doubt please fans of ski holidays in Breckenrige and other Colorado ski resorts.

People enjoying ski holidays in Breckenridge, Beaver Creek ski holidays, Vail ski holidays or ski holidays in Keystone can benefit from a multi-area lift-ticket structure, the Dallas News has reported.

Passes for the Vail Valley and Beaver Creek are fully interchangeable, as are those for Breckenridge and Keystone.

Additionally, Breckenridge-Keystone passes can be used during certain periods at Beaver Creek and Vail, while Vail-Beaver Creek passes are valid at all times in Breckenridge and Keystone.

"When you can use one lift pass at more than one Colorado resort, you really feel as if you're getting a bonus. And you are," special contributor Claire Walter writes.

US focuses on ski slope safety North America ski holidays this week can do so in a safe way as the region celebrates National Safety Awareness Week.

The National Ski Areas Association reports that skiers and snowboarders across the land will be focusing on skiing safely all this week.

Activities taking place during Safety Week are related to the seven key elements of safe skiing of the Your Responsibility Code.

These include maintaining control while skiing, giving right of way to skiers downhill of you - unless you are starting out from down the slope, in which case yield to uphill skiers.

Other tenets include stopping in a safe place for you and other skiers, observing signs and warnings and keeping well clear of closed trails and using lifts with proper care and attention.

"Safety remains a top priority throughout the season for ski resorts, and Safety Week is an opportunity for both guests and employees to gain a better understanding of the importance of personal responsibility on the slopes," NSAA President Michael Berry observed.

Vail is 'best ski resort for singles' North America ski holidays after it was reported that Breckenridge is the best ski resort for partner-less people.

Brits opt for ski holidays in the US Ski holidays in Breckenridge and other US resorts are becoming increasingly favoured by Brits and other European snow sports fans, it has been reported.

According to the Ski Club of Great Britain, major ski resorts along the east coast of the United States are reporting improved business from over the pond holidaymakers and also Canadians, thanks to current exchange rates.

"The strength of the Canadian dollar - to the US dollar is definitely an attraction for Canadian visitors," Tom Horrocks, communications manager at US ski resort Killington said on the radio, the Ski Club reports.

Meanwhile, the strong UK pound compared to the dollar could also be a driving factor for Britons booking North America ski holidays.

Snow conditions at Breckenridge are currently good with eight centimetres having fallen in the last week.

More snowfall is predicted for the coming weekend.

Snow festival in Colorado ski holidays in Breckenridge this spring can look forward to a mammoth festival.

Taking place from April 1st until April 20th is Spring Massive 2008, an end of the season extravaganza combining skiing in Breckenridge with food events, shows and concerts.

Participating breweries include Ska Brewing, Breck Brewery, Bristol, Lefthand, Palisade, New Belgium, Sam Adams, Great Divide, Wolf Rock, Oaskar Blues, Widmer, Red Hook, Kona, Stone Brewing Co, Steamborks, Flying Dog, Backcountry and Aspen Brewing.

The Ridge Street Massive Music Weekend featuring Robert Randolph and the Family Band taking place from April 18th will include Grace Potter & the Nocturnals on Friday and Robert Randolph & the Family Band on Saturday.
