Shelley Rudman insists that it is a "huge honour" to be chosen to carry the British flag for the opening ceremony of the 2010 Winter Olympics.
The 28-year-old was Britain's only medallist in Turin four years ago when she claimed silver in the skeleton and she is a strong contender to be on the podium again in Vancouver.
Meanwhile, Rudman has also been named as one of two vice-captains for Team GB, along with the skipper of the men's curling team David Murdoch.
Rudman said: "I am so excited to be selected to carry the flag for Team GB. There are some wonderful athletes here and I will be so proud to be the person who leads them into the stadium.
"I'm sure it's going to be a fantastic occasion and, as athletes, it's a sign to us that the Games really are getting under way."
Germany topped the medal table in Turin through picking up 11 golds, 12 silvers and six bronzes and were followed in the overall standings by the US and Austria.
