There is only a week to go until those who are lucky enough to be skiing this Christmas will be departing for the mountains. With news of more snow on its way the early winter weather has been incredible, Les Arc is already boasting a 2m base, so it really is looking like it will be a white Christmas.
Again Whistler is running away with the early season snow records, this week they are due another 61cm. That's nearly 3m of snowfall in three weeks! Colorado is also boasting some early powder with Aspen set to receive 38cm this week.
Both Sweden and Norway are enjoying a great start to the season. With the resorts of Vemdalen and Hemsedal both expecting around 40cm of snowfall this week, the fantastic start to the winter looks set to continue.
France is continuing an awesome start to the season with most major resorts expecting in the region of 20-30cm of fresh pow. Alpe d'Huez is once again at the forefront of the great weather and the Portes du Soleil not far behind. The Three Valleys and Paradiski are also continuing their strong start to the winter.
Italy is also enjoying the current cold front over Europe with Bardonecchia, Courmayeur and La Thuile benefitting from a 19cm dusting. Austria is also expecting a top up with Alpbach, Seefeld and St. Johann am Tirol leading the way.
All in all there is a great combination of cold weather, good snowfall and some sunshine to make for a good week of skiing and snowboarding. We're off to Sweden tomorrow so let's hope the forecasts are right!
