Snow News Until Next Monday

Snow News Until Next Monday

This week sees stunning sunshine hitting the slopes all day throughout the week with freezing temperatures overnight, making for a perfect week of March skiing. Following a week of gorgeous weather the snow is set to return next Monday.

France, British skiers favourite destination, is in for a glorious week — just look at the picture from Val d'Isere this morning. With a week of perfect mid-season skiing on pristine pistes and blue skies, it's a great time to hit the slopes.

New week, however, there is an expected return of fresh snow to the slopes. Val d'Isere and Tignes are set for a welcome 11cm of snow on Monday, while Meribel, Courchevel, La Plagne and Les Arcs are all set for around 9cm of fresh snow. The sun-filled, south-facing resort of Alpe d'Huez is also set for around 9-10cm of snow after the weekend.

Switzerland is set for fresh snow next week too, the nine day weather forecast has a dusting arriving on Sunday night, followed by more snow on Monday and Tuesday. Zermatt and Saas Fee are forecast for a fantastic 17cm, of fresh snow, with Verbier, Engelberg and Crans Montana (see right) all expecting around 9cm of snow. Wengen should also benefit from a 6cm top-up on Monday and Tuesday next week.

Italy is also set for some fresh snow early next week. Cervinia is set for around 13cm of snow, not dissimilar to the neighbouring resort of Zermatt. LA Thuile, Sauze d'Oulx and Sestriere are all forecast around 8cm of snow falling from Monday, while Arabba and Selva should also get a light dusting.

Spain, Austria and Andorra are all seeing a similar story over the next nine days, with sunshine forecast until the end of the week, then a couple of centimetres of fresh snow falling on Monday. With Austria enjoying a record breaking winter in terms of snow, the slopes are in fabulous shape, regardless.

Pack your sunblock and your snood if you are heading to the slopes at the weekend.
