Ski resorts opening early
Courchevel announced yesterday that it is opening for a special one day preview this Friday and now other resorts are making the most of the fantastic new snow and opening specially for skiers and snowboarders to take advantage of the superb conditions. Find out more about Courchevel opening.
Opening day in Courchevel:
Alpe d’Huez is opening this weekend and will be opening the following to weekends before the official opening on 3rd December. On Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th November, the DMC 1 & 2 and TMX Rifnel will be open for access to the slopes. Pistes that will be open include: Le Couloir (blue slope of 2.5 km), Les Jeux (green slope of 1.6 km) and Piste du Rif Nel (green slope of 1.1 km). A one day lift pass will cost 18 Euros and 30 Euros for the weekend.
Verbier is opening early from Friday 11th November. To start with the Lac de Vaux sector will open to welcome the first skiers and snowboarders for winter 2016-17. Depending on the weather over the next few days, more slopes could open. Groomers are working everyday to get the slopes in pristine condition so that the ski area can open every weekend throughout November
Opening day in Verbier:
Val Thorens is now opening for the season a week early on Saturday 19th November. As the highest ski resort in Europe and one of the most snow-sure regions in the Alps, Val Thorens is normally one of the first resorts to open. The resort has already had 1 metre of snowfall so far this season so the team have no qualms about the ski area being in top quality condition.
Val d’Isere is firing up their ski lifts from Saturday 26th November. The resort made this announcement back in September due to the recent improvements to the ski area making them confident that the slopes will be ready for early season skiing. Due to its micro climate, high altitude and improved snow-making facilities, Val d’Isere is one of the most snow-sure resorts in the Alps. Find out more about the Val d’Isere opening.
