Snow Report | 15 Dec 2016: Live from Sierra Nevada

Snow Report | 15 Dec 2016: Live from Sierra Nevada The Iglu Ski team is in Sierra Nevada this week to learn all about this new ski resort in our winter 2016/17 programme. Sierra Nevada is one of the only ski resorts in Europe that has seen fresh snowfall this week, with 32cm already in the last 7 days and another 142 cm is forecast in the next 5 days!

Our men in the mountains, Rufus and Pete, have given us this snow update from resort:

Last night saw about 20cm of fresh snow falling even at resort level which has added to the great snow conditions that gave Sierra Nevada one of the best starts to a season in recent memory. With 70km of pisted terrain open there are more than enough runs to explore for a 3 or 4 night getaway.

The snow conditions remain excellent from the top of the Borreguil with 150cm snow base, and you could even ski back down into resort before last night’s snowfall!

The Laguna area has seen some of the best of the snow and beginners and intermediates have no shortage of options with long wide pistes all over the mountain, whilst more advanced skiers can now enjoy some powder off-piste.

Even more snow is coming tonight!

- Rufus

With up to 20cm of snow overnight and no clouds in the sky this morning conditions are almost perfect in Sierra Nevada.

The piste bashers worked hard through the night readying the slopes for the morning, and the powder off the piste is fantastic.

More snow is forecast for the week, making Sierra Nevada an awesome, if unconventional, choice for early season skiing.

- Pete
