Snow Report | 22 Nov 2016: Over 100 cm of snow is forecast The great news just keeps on coming as even more snow is forecast this week, and not just a sprinkling of snow… up to 100 cm is forecast in localised areas! Heavy snowfalls are predicted this week in Switzerland and areas of Italy and France.

A number of resorts across the Alps are already open ahead of schedule due to the fantastic early season conditions. Here is our report of resorts that are already open for winter 2016/17.

Recent top snowfalls include: 60 cm in Zermatt and Chamonix, 45 cm in Sass Fee and 25 cm in Cervinia, and 27 cm in Lech and Zürs. Upper slopes in Chamonix already have a 250 cm snow base; Val Thorens has 150 cm and Cervinia 130cm.

The next 5 days is going to be extremely snowy in parts of Europe with up to 105 cm in this week’s forecast. Resorts in Switzerland will benefit hugely from the snow this week as well as ski resorts in the Milky Way ski area, such as Sestriere, Pragelato, Sauze d’Oulx and Montgenevre. Leading ski resorts in France are forecast between 50-80cm which is great news as many of the resorts will be officially opening for the season at the start of December.
