The heaviest snow falls have been in the southern ski areas, including the Dolomites, southern French Alps and Switzerland seeing over 50 cm of snow over the weekend. The northern alpine regions did miss out on the huge dumps this time around but the snow is set to return midweek.

Avoriaz, France – 103 cm
Courmayeur, Italy – 86 cm
Lech, Austria – 78 cm
St Anton, Austria – 71 cm
Les Arcs, France – 70 cm
Verbier, Switzerland – 70 cm

Ski resorts in Italy are back on track to have a brilliant ski season. Many resorts had a big dump of snow over the weekend, taking totals from the last 7 days up to 70 cm of fresh snow! The Monterosa ski area has reported fresh snowfall overnight of up to 25cm in Gressoney. The Dolomites received further snow, boasting 40 cm in Madonna di Campiglio and the Milky Way region had 30 cm recorded on the upper slopes of Sestriere and Sauze d’Oulx.
Over the next 9 days huge snowfalls are forecast in Italy with up to 100cm predicted, including large snowfalls in South Tyrol resorts.

Many ski resorts in France already boast excellent snow conditions, so more fresh snow= more powder days! Chamonix, Samoens, Bonneval and Flaine have received the best of the latest snowfalls with over half a metre of fresh snow in the past 7 days.
Val d'Isere reported this morning that 20 cm of snow fell during the night and 45cm on the glacier!
Plenty more snow is forecast in France this week, with nearly all leading resorts currently forecast over 50 cm of snow and over 100 cm in some areas!

Switzerland
Saas Fee and Zermatt received huge snowfalls and strong winds over the weekend which forced the majority of both mountains to close. The weather is set to brighten up on Tuesday and then more snowfall is forecast on Wednesday and Thursday.
